Old Agassiz Cemetery Preservation Society
Our Goal
The Old Agassiz Cemetery Preservation Society is dedicated to preserving the Old Agassiz Cemetery located on Limbert Road in Agassiz.
Legally known as the Kent Municipal Cemetery, the cemetery is the final resting place for many of the pioneers who built the community. Through community advocacy, fundraising, and volunteer efforts the Society works to ensure that the cemetery is protected for generations to come.
How You Can Help

Fence Project
Our summer 2026 project is to replace the damaged wooden entrance fence with a new iron fence and entrance sign. This project is supported by the District of Kent and the Agassiz Harrison Lions Club. The Society will be working with local contractors to complete the work. Stay tuned for updates.

Monument Restoration
Restoration of the monuments is needed and will be slowly tackled by volunteers. This is ongoing work using specialized products and approved methods to ensure they are restored as best as possible and that they are not damaged in the process.

Raffle
We are planning a Fall raffle with some great prizes to be won. Reach out to any of our Board members or look for us at the Agassiz Fall Fair Saturday September 19. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25. Funds raised will support ongoing operations and projects of the Society.
Cemeteries Matter
In the Old Agassiz Cemetery you will come across names that built Agassiz; community leaders, Agassiz family members, police, veterans and so many more. The cemetery is the final place of rest and a record of how Agassiz came to be. It's grounds reflect hardship, service and sacrifice.
As Agassiz grows and changes, the risk of forgetting our past increases and so it matters.
Cemeteries ask us to slow down and take stock of the lives that make communities what they are today. They serve more than just places of mourning, but also serve as places of dialogue, remembrance and learning.
The Old Agassiz Cemetery Preservation Society Board of Directors strongly believe that the cemetery matters and are committed to protecting it so future generations can connect with their past.

Honoring our silent history
We aim to preserve the historical legacy and natural beauty of the Old Agassiz Cemetery for generations to come through careful conservation and community dedication.
